The panel was officially inaugurated by Li Yong, UNIDO Director General together with Zayed Al Zayani, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism of Bahrain and Sheikh Ebrahim Al khalifa, honorary Chairman of the Board of Trustees, UNIDO Arab International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Investment (AICEI), Bahrain. With an audience of 200 entrepreneurs from around the world, the panel addressed the challenges, opportunities and recommendations relating to youth economic empowerment. Mrs. Sabah Almoayyed was a member of the Panelist in the Session “Promoting Youth Entrepreneurship through Start-ups” along with the prestigious International speakers.

Taking into consideration the best practices in the area of capacity building, business counseling and mentoring, and access to finance and incubation management systems. It also stressed the vital role of infrastructure institutions.

The panel featured two major speakers—Buke Cuhadar, vice President of the Global Entrepreneurship Network and Guenther Juenger, EMEA Director of Corporate Affairs, Intel Corporation.

The panel announced several important initiatives and developments:

→ The Intel-UNIDO virtual entrepreneurship and innovation hub was officially inaugurated.

→ The first edition of the special booklet “Women Entrepreneurs. Women Empowered” featuring sixteen success stories of women from nine countries—Bahrain, China, Egypt, Kenya, Kuwait, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Sierra Leone and Sudan—supported by EDIP, was presented.

→ A special booklet on the ITPO Bahrain achievements over the last 20 years was presented.

→ The three winners of the Global Startup Business Plan competition (GSBPC) were acknowledged:

1st Place: Team Firebird, Sri Lanka 2nd Place: Auxulium (DAD walker), Singapore 3rd Place: RIEGO, Lebanon

→ Both Afnan AL Zayani, Founder of the MENA Businesswomen Network and Dan Liang, Vice Chairman of Maritime-Continental Silk Road “Cities Alliance Business Council” were recognized for their support to EDIP.
